Thornhill CC
Thornhill Community Council is a voluntary organisation set up by statute by the Dumfries and Galloway Council. It is comprised of residents who care about their community and want to make it a better place to live.
There can be up to 14 elected members – with a minimum of 5 required to be present for decisions to be made at meetings. Our meetings are open to the public and take place every 6 weeks. The agenda is publicly posted at least 7 days prior to the event.
In addition to representing the community to the local authority, the Community Council plays an active role in driving local initiatives. This includes leading on community planning, campaigning on key issues like housing, and supporting or organising events such as the annual Gala.

As the most local tier of elected representation, the Community Council plays an important role in local democracy. Anyone over the age of 16 who is resident in the catchment areas can join as an elected member.

2025 Meeting dates are currently 1st Monday of the month then the 3rd Monday of the following month. This may be reviewed. The venue is currently OST while we are waiting for Broadband to be installed in Friendship Club.
